I filed an uninsured motorist claim 5 days after I was rear-ended and seriously injured by an uninsured driver. MetLife paid for my car under uninsured motorist coverage and my medical bills under personal injury protection.
I sent letters to them for three years under the caption "Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury" outlining my permanent injuries, but they refused to pay me because they said I had not filed an uninsured motorist claim. As an agent for MetLife, I had never heard of such a rediculous excuse, it's up to the claims department to establish the claim once they have sufficient information and a proof of loss, which I provided to them. I sued them and three years later they finally paid up.
Then they terminated our agency contract. They are nastier than nasty can describe.
