At 92 yrs old sold life insurance for 26 yr annuity

My mother had 2 life insurance policys. she was paying on them since early 70's, one for$1000 AND ONE FOR $2000. in 2010 I called Metlife to find out the value of the insurance policys. They told me that the death payoff was $13,600 and that my mother should stop paying on them because the were payed up.I told my mother and she stopped paying, however 2 months later 2 reps from metlife showed up at my mothers house and got her to sign her policys over to a 26 yr annuity selling her life insurance for face value of $9,000 losing $4,600 of insurance to make along story short my mother died 2 years later. She was blind and there was no witness for her signature metlife said we were there when she signed the paper but its funny none of us saw that and my brother and 2 sisters never saw her sign, Metlife believed their reps.SO WATCH OUT

I have the huge displeasure of filing claims with metlife for an orthodontist. When they took over the tricare dental program over a year ago, we didn't get reimbursed for over FOUR MONTHS, then when payments started coming, they were a complete MESS!

I have worked for over 10 years billing insurance and never dealt with a WORSE company! We only became provider for metlife due to our large military numbers. WHAT A MISTAKE! I cannot begin to describe the frustration I go thru on a daily basis with this company.

Every time I call to dispute a claim for whatever reason, I am told, "so, sorry" we will get that "sent over", as we are not allowed to speak directly to the claims department. A few weeks later I call again, as my issue has not been resolved, same story, I will send that over... blah, blah, blah, I HAVE to get very very firm with them to get anywhere! They NEVER return promised phone calls, it takes MONTHS!

to get a claim paid after repeated phone calls.

I HATE METLIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :( :(

Schema to elude customer to renew CD automatically

I put a lot money to open 18 months MetLife CD. Without receiving any correspondence (email, paper mail, or bank statement) to warn me the CD would be mature on Apr. 13, 2012. They renew the CD on Apr. 23, 2012. Later on, they sent me paper mail mentioned the CD renew as 0.75 APR interest rate for another 18 months. Then right after they renew the CD, they pump up the CD rate to be 1.12% for 18 months. I will never put my money in Metlife saving product any more. Be aware if you put your money in MetLife.

MetLife=descriminating poor excuse for insurance

The re-enrollment period for insurance just came up at my place of employment. So I decided to increase my life insurance and add on short-term disability to what I allready carry, wich includes long-term disabilty by the way. Well I get a two letters in the mail one denying my short-term disability due to pregnancy and a past history of depression the other saying they are still reviewing my request for the increase in life insurance. Now I allready carry long-term dissability so if the depression doesn't effect that why should it effect the short term? The fact that they denied me coverage because I am pregnant is just asinine! It is bad enough that I as well as many others can't get paid maternity leave but now I will possibly be able to afford to *** 2 weeks of work with my vaca/sick time when I have the baby and wiill have to jump right back into work. If I have complications and have to have c-section, well we are screwed because I wont have any money comming in because they concider pregnancy and a past history a reason to deny someone coverage! I would even be willing to pay a little extra just to have this bennifit because of past whatever, but since they didnt require this of me with my long-term I see no reason to pay extra for my short-term. Met Life you are *** and you need to change your practices, companies like you are whats wrong with the world. You deny someone like me who is married, both of us work, with a child on the way and for what reason? You are forcing us to have to go to the state for assistance and possibly our city for rent because you want to deny a hard working american something so simple for no solid reasons and in this economy! I am disgusted by this and there NEEDS to be a change.

Metlife Life Ins. Wont pay and doesnt know

My father passed on 09-12-2011. He left me a metlife life insurance policy.

I started making calls in regards to the policy on 01-01-2012. It is now the 1st of February and i am still being sent forms and getting the run-around. I have been sent wrong forms and been made to talk with a customer service department located in costa rica south america whom im told by all representatives has no supervisor on duty. In short if you are thinking of life insurance...

DO NOT use METLIFE! I am on my 6th week of making phone calls and filling out wrong forms and was told today, February 01 2012 that it still may be up to three more weeks.

The company is too big and has no regards for the customer other than to take your money and not pay out when its time for them to do so. I have documentation on all of the above statements for those who need it!!!!!!!

First off they sent my TCA packet to the WRONG address. I was lucky that no one was able to cash any of the checks.

Finally about three weeks after the account was payed out - I receive the TCA packet. I've been to two banks - one I've been a member at for about 20 years and they both put a two day hold on deposits made with the TCA checks. I'm calling in the morning and asking for a check. I don't like having to wait two days when it is my money.

Total control is an extremely misleading name for this type of service because you have less control than just putting your money in a conventional bank. I won't be buying any policies from them - ever.

Guest

Metife contacted me and said there was a policy held by my Mom. They sent me an Express claim form.

Some months afterward I found the original policy.

It was for twice the amount the sent me. What can I do.

My ex-husband passed away almost two years ago...JUST recently MetLife contacted me that my husband had a life insurance policy and I WAS THE BENEFICIARY on the policy.Over two months ago i sent them the certified copy of the death certificate filled out all the forms they sent me.During our several telephone conversations they became aware that we were divorced. They then requested a certified copy of our divorce papers.I called them2 weeks after they received the divorce papers and they stated to me that MY RIGHTS AS THE BENEFICARY HAVE NOT SURVIVED MY DIVORCE??? A MAN FROM METLIFE DEATH CLAIMS AT 500 Shoolhouse Road, Johnstown PA said to wait for the letter explaining why this happened.

I AM THE BENEFICIARY JUST BECAUSE WE ARE DIVORCED DOES NOT MEAN HIS THREE CHILDREN WE HAD TOGETHER AND MYSELF SHOULD BE LEFT WITH NOTHING. I AM CURRENTLY SEEKING A LAWYER AND I AM NOT ONLY GOING TO SUE FOR THE POLICIES VALUE BUT FOR ALL THE BACKUP-LAWYER FEES-ANDMETAL DAMAGES MetLife has imposed on my family!!!!

SEE YA IN COURT!!! PLEASE PEOPLE...PLEASE DO NOT OBTAIN A LIFE INSURANCE POLICY WITH METLIFE THEY ONLY KNOW HOW TO HOLD OUT THEIR HAND FOR UR MONEY BUT THEY HAVE EVERY INTENTION ON KEEPING IT!!!!

I am having similar troubles i have talked to 3 different customer service persons so far the first time was to find out the hold up on the tca,, apparently they were waiting on a enrollment form or something from the work place my dad have the l ins policy from and told me the email had been sent monday before last.. i called yesterday got a diff rep and was

told that the email was sent the same monday i called to find out what was going on (supposedly right before i called...) funny thing ??

i just got off the phone with the human resource department that handles the insurance claims. called koch something..

they informed me that there is no record at all of an email to the rep. met told me the email was sent to..

Guest

If the policy was over $50,000 MetLife is REQUIRED to create a TCA in your name. You can easily pay all the bills with the TCA because they send you a check book.

If the policy was not over that amount, when you sent in your claim form you would've indicated that you either wanted a check or TCA. They can only be issued these two ways.

The real problem is with the imaging company ACS, if they upload something and put in the wrong account number or misspell something, it can be *** to find it.

Guest

:( Same thing is happening with me! They throw up one road block after another.

Their newest trick is to send the insurance pay out to a thing they call Total Control Account. Another way to hold the money and actually make it harder to receive the funds. Terrible service for a family that needs the funds to pay the deceased bills. I am filing a complaint with Dept.

of Regulatory Agencies-Division of Insurance that requires a Met Life Manager to respond. I wish you luck.

Metlife promoting Identity Theft

I was just informed that a MetLife representative informed my dentist that they can not verify, and will not pay any claim without the patient's social security number. In this day of rampant identity theft, I am just absolutely shocked that MetLife would be actively promoting and encouraging identify theft in this manner. Almost all insurance companies have stopped using the ssn as an identifier for this very reason. It's unbelievable that this company is still twenty years in the past. If anyone has had to give their ssn to MetLife or a dental office because of them, and has had their identify stolen, they should be pursuing a class action lawsuit against MetLife for this.

They use it "internally", not for the ID that you must give every doctor, etc. Therefore, by them using it for the insurance id, you are forced to give it to every doctor, dentist, hospital, ambulatory center, pharmacy, etc.

That means instead of it being at one place (the insurance company), it's at hundreds of places, all of which could mishandle it, lose it, or suffer a break in.

I completely disagree with Anon that if it's a reputable company, your safe. I don't know how he's missed the news the past five years, but many, many reputable companies have suffered physical of cyber break-in's resulting in millions of lost records.

Guest

Actually most insurance companies still use date of birth and SSN to identify people. Since you shouldn't be providing that information to anyone other than reputable companies you should not have to worry about identity theft.

Why people loose there homes and how banks will help them loose it even if there is no problem!!!

Metlife debited my bank account twice, forgetting to cancel the second transaction after I called and changed the date. In two days 11/28/11 and 11/30/11 my bank account was debited for $2361 twice. This is after my husband lost his job and we have been in the worst financial situation ever. I have originally contacted them on 11/16/11 to see do they can provide any help, but it was only nightmare since. They could only schedule an withdraw- something I could have done myself and send modification papers. I have schedule a automatic bank payment with them for 11/30/11, but I was told that I can reschedule any time if have the funds. I have called again on 11/23/11 that the funds were there and they "rescheduled" the date for 11/28/11. For my surprise on 12/01/11 we have seen two debits in our checking account- somebody from Metlife have not cancel the second transaction and now we had all the bills we were trying so hard to catch up with having insufficient charges and account bal negative. I have started calling Metlife 7AM, spoke with many reps, waited hours for supervisor Susan Rodriquez, was given non working fax #s to fax my bank statements proving there mistake. Later that day they finally received the fax and agreed that was their mistake, spoke with supervisor Ali, that assured me that will call me later that day. After speaking with Chase bank I found out that Metlife needs to cancel their withdraw so we are not charged with late fees. Called back again- about 8 times at least. And other representative told me that they can't do that, but will overnight me a check. I said that Chase have never heard bank not to be able to cancel charge and in that case we will have to pay the insufficient charges on all- many other withdraws scheduled. The Metlife rep said that they can refund late charges maybe after we send then a statement....Then I told them that after hours with them that day, missing work and having wrong numbers given, being put on hold ect. I didn't get any help and have to cancel the double withdraw, that is their mistake with the bank to avoid late fees. I was crying on the phone. They told me that they are taping me....I have not received a return phone call from supervisor Ali. We have never received the loan modification papers promised on 11/16/11, not that in the way they work will not make just bigger mess. I didn't get any help- just the opposite, huge disappointment from people that do not know what they are doing and do not seem to care about the consumer. I was charged on top $20- twice for them to put me in that mess. Chase bank thankfully helped me fast with the problem. Today with much hardship we got the money to make the Dec 2011 payment, but for my surprise after opening my statement online it shows that we now have had "returned payment"- We have never made that payment!!! And the bal of the account is $ 4522.70- double again. And to call the bank ASAP. I have called right away and a rude CSR has told me that in her system shows the normal payment of $2251 and she has no idea- to call back Monday. I did explain to her what mess they did before, but she very rudely said that that is all and call back. Maybe Metlife is planning to pay me for a day off work when it is such a hard time now for us. It is such a shame what they are doing with the people, no wonder that so many people are losing their homes. I was going to be late one week and that never happened in 12 years. I should have just schedule the payment online myself, not calling , letting them know, etc- after that still cannot get my blood pressure down the mess they made from such a small thing. I am a IL Broker and Manager and for have done mortgages, explained them to people and have an idea about the way it works. For clueless people, all that incompetent, uncaring reps can easily "help" people loose their homes, time, and money. Somebody has to help them do the job they are there for the right way!!! I am so disgusted, sad, sorry, hopeless...where are we going and who is leading us? Do someone cares?

Met Life denied me insurance because I'm on anti-depressants

I called Met Life to get life insurance. My age isn't a problem. They asked me loads of personal questions. One of the questions they asked me was if I was on any medication. I told them yes, I was. I'm on anti-depressants, etc. That didn't seem to be a problem. Two weeks later I received a letter in the mail saying that I was denied because I am on anti-depressives. If that were an issue why didn't this supposedly well-established company tell me that upfront? Don't waste your time with them.

Metlife is sending checks to the wrong person, won't change it

Approx. 3 years ago we started receiving mail from Met life in my husband's name, our address, Only difference is the middle initial and first name is spelled Stephen instead of Steven. I returned all the mail as it was valuable info on a policy. Made numerous calls to customer service who assured me it would all be corrected. In the spring of 2011 we received a check for 13000+ dollars, I registered the letter, returned the check and again asked to please remove our name and address, Assured it would happen, A couple of months later we received a check for 13.00 I registered the letter returned the check and again was assured this would be corrected. All done at our expense, I have since received mail asking us to please cash the checks, I threw them in the rubbish. 2 weeks ago I received 1099s for the checks in my husband's name. No SS# but our address and guess what they changed the middle initial to match my husbands. I was so angry I called customer service' Sal from who knows where, Assured me the IRS would know it was not my husband. I told him we could have cashed the checks and Met would never know because they just don't care. He stated we would receive a letter of apology from Met and never hear from them again. It was now documented on the computer. Guess what today we received another 1099 for the IRS. This is bordering on harrassment. I am filing with the Attorney General for our state. I am writing a column in our local newspaper listing both names and policy numbers. I am angry, I have never seen a company run so poorly. Who is watching the store. Your money is only as safe as the company you invest with.

DO NOT get insurance with MetLife

I would highly recommend not getting auto insurance with MetLife. The inconsistency of their customer service reps is unbelievably ridiculous! We wanted to cancel our policy and had automatic deductions set up - also DON'T do this either. That was a big mistake. Needless to say money was taken out on the 27th, we called them right away and the gal said to send a cancellation letter and a declarations page (because the state we use to live in required it). We mailed this on the 28th. On the 7th I called to see if it was cancelled and they said no we didn't receive it and you'll be billed on the 10th as well. I'm pretty sure mail doesn't take two weeks from MN to OH. So this 2nd customer service rep said we can fax a cancellation letter. The first person said nothing about faxing it. This 2nd one said nothing about a declarations page. So I called again to speak with someone different. This 3rd person said you don't need to send a declarations page if it's within 30 days also that MetLife needed to mail or fax us a page for us to sign to cancel. Hello...why didn't the first two people say that? As you can see, completely inconsistent! We'll see what happens when we get the letter and how long it takes for them to cancel and refund us. The 3rd lady also said we would be refunded as did the 1st however the 2nd said it depends on when you cancel...inconsistent information!!

yeah same thing for the same reason happened to me and I am pissed, it shows that when I put a claim I will suffer for my money. I've just send a cancellation request as well and I want my money back and I know I have a right to it since I am not happy with their service.

in 2011 as well I tried to put a claim for my stepdad's death but because him and my mom did not sign I did not get the money till today and worse part is that I am the one who buried my stepfather I even shown them all the documents from funeral parlour up to grocery store where I bought food for mourners but hey all they want is our money.

i have tried to get hold of ametlife for a while now no one comes back with correct numbers i have a debit order going off my account that needs to be sorted out my number is 072146**** or 082459****

Okay, now I am really... how should I say it...

PISSED! To cancel, you need to FAX a certified copy of your ID with a letter! But to take out the policy, a simple YES over the telephone was enough. The most ridiculous part is that I was able to cancel a freaking life policy over the telephone just yesterday.

I will NEVER do business with Metropolitan Life again!!!! :(

Have you received any feedback from anyone on this issue? I have exactly the same problem, and no-one to contact. :(

Withdraw money from metlife met smart plus policy

I have took met life smart plus policy 4 years before. The advisor told me that after 3 years we can withdraw money any time. We pay annual premium of rs. 12000. The advisor also told us that we will get a double return after three years. But after 3 years when we reach him he is telling us that the we won't get the full money back. There will be deduction in the money. So plz tell me how could i withdraw my money from it. This is a fraud to us. This life insurance policy is just a fake.

I have also taken a policy, same thing sales person informed. I have joined on 2007, now the fund value is lesser than the deposited amount & they are asking their will be a charge which is equivalent to 15% of the fund value else to wait till 10 years.

but it is like trap, they are charging monthly from the same.. how we will get back the amount ??

Don't deposit in this type of policies

When will someone stand up for victims like us

My first car insurance was with Metlife. Due to unforseen circumstances, my policy was cancelled due to non payment. That was definitely all on me. The second time I needed insurance, I still opted for Metlife since they earlier Honored my foreign driving record. However, since I had a record with them, they said that it was "COMPANY POLICY" that i have to pay ONE FULL YEAR coverage. I did, on November 5,2010. December, 2010, I got a bill, called them and was resolved. So, I was supposedly covered until November 5,2011. They cancelled my policy due to non-payment from a bill sent September, on October. I tried explaining to the agent that I paid for 1 full year since it was them who set the rules but just kept saying I only paid "PARTIALLY". It was their policy, I obeyed, I was told the next payment was due on November,2011... Guess they can bend it any time they want :"(

MetLife Made Us Homeless

We purchased a new home and the builder recommended MetLife. We supplied everything they asked for months ago and was told we were pre-approved for a VA Loan. I checked in with MetLife and have kept every e-mail with the rep telling us everything is fine. Even when we had to write a $10,000 to the builder MetLife said you are great write the check. When we had an offer on our current home we checked in and were told again sell your house your loan is approved on your new home. We sold our current home and signed the documents last week. MetLife sends us an e-mail now just 9 days before we close and say we are no longer approved because my husband for a short time was paid as a subcontractor and we need pay stubs. Luckily, he went on salary last month and we give them the pay stubs and then they say we falsified them. His employer has even written a letter. Now we find they hadn't even pulled my husbands eligibility for the VA loan. The person telling us we were approved and everything was great was a sales manager and until 10 days before we closed hadn't even turned in our paperwork to underwriting. You can't talk to anyone on the phone at MetLife their phone system is impossible. Everyone here is Arizona is covering each others mistakes and telling us to quite making phone calls. W will lose our $15,000 we've put towards the new house and have to be out of our current home in 2 days with no place to live.

ps - they troll these sites to make sure no one leaks out all their bad secrets

John N Mzy

ordinarily, when you do this kind of dual transaction, you make it a part of the sales agreement on your home that it is contingent upon closing on your new home. You did have your attorney look guide you and review all the paperwork before you signed, didn't you???

MetLife Auto Insurance Crooks

My husband was run off the road by what is called a "phantom" vehicle as they were moving into his lane he was forced to move off the road a little to avoid the collision and when coming back onto the road he over corrected and filled the car several times and this has now be reported as a total loss. They are filling this under our Collision part of the policy versus the un insured motorist part which is where this should be filed so they don't have to pay time off work, medical, etc also they are able to charge me the full deductible on my collision side versus the $200 deductible on the un insured motorist side. I have already contacted my state's Bureau of Insurance and was told that they are incorrect and was advised on what to do to get them involved. I recommend anyone with any issues with their insurance company locate your states bureau of insurance and file a complaint. Good luck guys!

Metlife should be sued for neglience and deficiency

I filed a short-term disability claim on june 16, 2011. metlife advised that i needed to submit additional paperwork in order to extend my claim. as per their policy, they have 5 business days to work a claim after paperwork has been submitted. I submitted the paperwork on aug 16, and my claim should have been approved or denied by aug 23, 2011. This was not done and I was not aware that it was not done. I called again on the 29th to question why my claim was not completed and was told that they were still reviewing the documents. Because of their neglience and deficiency, i did not receive my paycheck and this has caused my illness to worsen. And all they could say was sorry. I have no food and I can't pay my rent which results in an added late fee in addition to my rent that i can not afford.
